Tony
has very kindly sent me a letter with a few of his details which is reproduced
below in its entirety. Next month I will profile another committee member Mr
Mark Ayers the Vice chairman of North London Flyers..

Dear Robert
I have now been involved with model flying for about four years. I have
always been crazy about flying ever since I can remember. My experience of
taking to the skies and flying was when I first joined the air cadets
(9FSquadron ) Holloway. I was about 15 years old, and was given the
opportunity to fly Chipmunks, and old RAF trainer. The bug bit me very hard
and I was hooked on flying. However, it wasn't until much later in life when
I could afford it, that I took up full size Gliding at the London
Gliding Club, Dunstable Downs. I became a member there for about 2.5 years,
gaining a total of about 70 hours flying time.
Judo and Scuba Diving have played a big part in my life, but of all the
sports i have been involved in, both practicing and instructing, flying has
to be the most rewarding of all and I find it just as exciting to fly models
as I did full size.
Flying for me is a continuous learning curve and I always strive to improve. I
get a tremendous satisfaction teaching people at the club. A good flyer and
club member is not just there for himself, but to support the club and
help others to achieve their goals. The greatest pleasure for me, is to see a
new member/novice pilot having just achieved his first landing and to go on
to take his/her A test, turn up at the club to fly and have fun.
Our aim at NORTH LONDON FLYERS, is, quite simply, to provide a
vehicle for
other model enthusiast to take up the hobby/sport of model flying, in a safe
and friendly atmosphere, free of all the hassle that most of us have had to
endure at other clubs.
As a club and committee member i will do all i can in my power to fulfil the
criteria required of all NLF members.
